Among the villages of our Apennine, Casa del Tibet is the cultural representative of the exiled Tibetan government. Born in 1990 and blessed by Dalai Lama, it is hosted in the village of Votigno (Canossa) the ideal place for this Tibet house, not far from Reggio Emilia. This community is the first in Europe, after Delhi, New York and Mexico City, whose role is to spread the tibetan culture compromised by chinese government. The ruins of a forgotten village have been converted into a lively gathering point for those who want to dialogue with different cultures, independently from their religion. Next to the Buddha Temple there is a little chapel dedicated to S.Francesco. In Casa del Tibet, quietly laid between the hills of Reggio and close to the Canossa castle ruins, there are a place for meditation, a library and a museum about Tibet; it is possible to organize seminars, meetings and exhibitions as well. The manager of the centre is the tibetan artist Tashi Tsering Lama, one of the best experts of holy tibetan painting. He escaped from Tibet in 1959 with his family and entered the Ghumey Tantric College monastery in the south of India, where he perfectioned the traditional painting tecniques with great masters.
