Ars Canusina is a decoration style used in Reggio Emilia province for some handicrafts made of stone, wood, leather, metal, ceramic, fabric. This style reproduces the medieval buildings decorations of Matilde di Canossa age (1046-1115), testifying a glorious time. The handmade objects are mainly pots, plates, tablecloths and shawls but the decorations are also on religious objects and paraments. The decorations are designed like racemos, biblical knots and animals of the medieval bestiary, with the geometric compositions of a romantic expression. These stylistic elements are the personality of ars canusina which makes the objects unmistakable. Today this decoration is famous and sought-after. The brand is given only to some masters craftsmen and a committee vigilates over the correct application of its rules.
